How do you feel about having a real conversation?

I am tired of the political sideshow. I am tired of political slogans and one liners that pundits spout off on national television.  This isn’t a game. Policies affect PEOPLE everyday, just like you and me. So can’t we have a real conversation about how, exactly, policies are affecting us? The goal of this blog is to cut the bullshit and have a real, honest dialogue about how POLICY affects you.  I am a Civics teacher at a High School in Denver, CO and have the great fortune of teaching students everyday how to look past the partisan bickering and analyze policies rationally.
I am not naïve, I have worked at the Democratic National Committee, In The United States Senate for a Senior Senator and for a Special Interest Group. I understand the delicate balance between making a policy look good and making good policy.
As Dr. Martin Luther King demanded in a speech titled A Revolution of Values, “We must rapidly begin the shift from a thing oriented society to a person oriented society.”
Policies are often described in large statistics and distant political one liners. It is my goal to break down policies and figure out how, exactly, they affect each of us.
Let’s do this right.
